What great news for the four guns that will benefit from this funding. The rate at which these big guns deteriorate, as the article says, is indeed very quick. Here at the Heugh Battery Museum we fight a continual battle with the elements which eat away at the exhibits we have on site. This may be a good time to launch an appeal to help us to care for 13 large guns we have, including a Howitzer, Bofors and Anti Aircraft guns. We also have vehicles such as our Ferret, Saracen and Chieftain Tank to look after too. All of these objects need a lot of TLC. Can anyone help? If you would like to contribute to the upkeep if these historic items, please contact us via Facebook or info@heughbattery.co.uk or come to visit us at the museum we would love to see you here! Englands historic cannon could be lost to the elements unless cash is found to preserve them.
