Amended Seaton parking controls to come into force AMENDED parking controls in Seaton Carew will come into force on Monday (June 12) following public consultation. The changes approved last month by Hartlepool Councils Neighbourhood Services Committee reflect comments made by residents, businesses and members of the public at a meeting on May 10. The meeting, which took place at Seaton Carew Social Club and Institute, was the first of three consultation events that the Council is holding over the summer ahead of a full review of the experimental parking controls at the end of October. The parking controls are part of a Parking Plan for Seaton Carew that came into force in April with the aim of addressing a range of traffic issues, including parking on pavements and on the chevrons in the centre of the road on The Front. They include parking charges of 1 for up to 2 hours, 1.50 for up to 4 hours and 2 for all day which apply to the Newburn Bridge, Rocket House and Coach Park car parks as well as onstreet pay and display parking bays. There are also residentonly and business parking permit schemes and clock disc systems that limit parking in the car park at Seaton Park and on The Front. The changes mean All pay and display charges will apply from 9am6pm instead of 8am8pm. The parking areas on the residential side of The FrontThe Cliff which are currently joint residents permit and pay and display bays will become residents parking only. The area on the east side of the road adjacent to the clock towerbus station will become additional permit parking for business only. The onstreet disc parking scheme on The Front will be extended to allow free parking for 1 hour instead of the current 30 minutes. The disc parking scheme operating in Seaton Park car park off Station Lane will be extended to allow free parking for 2 hours instead of the current 1 hour. Seaton Carew Social Club and Institute in Station Lane will again be the venue for the next consultation meeting on Wednesday July 12 from 26pm.
