Appeal for information after man broke his leg in football fight London British Transport Police are appealing for information after a man broke his leg when banter between two groups of football fans turned violent at Earls Court station in London. The incident happened on Monday (8 May) at around 10.30pm after the Chelsea vs Middlesborough match. Two groups of football fans from opposing teams came across each other a short distance from the railway station. There was some footballrelated banter between the two groups which escalated as they arrived at the station. Inside the station, one of the groups confronted a man from the other group. The 37yearold man was punched in the face by two different people and one of the punches caused the victim to fall to the floor. He broke his leg in two places, requiring surgery. He is currently recovering in hospital. The offenders may have been armed with a glass bottle. A 60yearold man from Essex, a 37yearold man from Hartlepool and a 31yearold man from Grimsby have been arrested in connection with this incident on suspicion of GBH and have been released under investigation. Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information about what happened. Investigating officer PC James Hill said This was a nasty incident which escalated very quickly. What seems to have started as some friendly banter between opposing football teams soon turned violent, with one man suffering very serious consequences. There is likely to have been a number of people in the station who saw what happened and I am very keen to speak to them so that we can establish the full circumstances of this incident.
