Cadets Praised Following Hartlepool Care Home Renovation Four police cadets have been praised by Cleveland Police chiefs after they volunteered to spruce up the garden of a Hartlepool care home. Omran Alkoteiche (17), Mohammed Alkoteiche (15), Luke Burnett (15) and Declan Sowerby (15) gave up three weekends in a row to renovate the grounds of Charlotte Grange Care Home on Flaxton Street. The youngsters repaired and painted garden furniture, replanted bedding flowers and removed weeds. They also repaired a rundown water feature which had been broken for some time. The cadets were invited to the care home for afternoon tea on Wednesday 31st May as a thank you. Police and Crime Commissioner for Cleveland, Barry Coppinger, funds the Cleveland Police cadet programme, which is aimed at children aged 1317. He said Im very proud of the way these young men have applied themselves to improve the lives of the 47 people living with dementia at the care home. They are fantastic representatives of Cleveland Police and should be proud of themselves. Joining the Police Cadets is an excellent way for young people to get involved in projects that make a real impact to our local communities and I would urge youngsters with an interest in policing to get involved. Assistant Chief Constable Jason Harwin said Police cadets help with crime prevention initiatives, community safety events, and projects within local communities and it is a fantastic way for young people to build confidence and gain new skills. Youngsters can be viewed negatively, but in our police cadets we have a fantastic group of people who are creating the foundations for a fantastic future.
