Cleveland Durham RPU shift in Hartlepool last night. Call received about a twovehicle RTC on the A689 near Newton Bewley, upon arrival the traffic officer is told that the occupants of one vehicle had legged it, carrying a large Flatscreen telly. Luckily a paramedic that had arrived on scene had given chase and one of the males (and the telly) were located. Info was received that the vehicle had been stolen in a burglary, the detained male was arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft of the TV. It later transpired the TV had been pinched from Tescos and that the male was also wanted for questioning in relation to a commercial burglary. He remains in custody at this time awaiting interview and process. The identity of the driver is under investigation.
