Council to grant freedom honour HARTLEPOOL Council is to grant Freedom of the Borough to three individuals and one local organisation at a special ceremony in the town this week (Thursday 18 May). It follows an appeal by the Councils Civic Honours Committee last year for nominations for the historic title. The Honorary FreemanFreewoman title is the highest honour that a Council can bestow and will be granted to the following Jill Kitching Founder of Epilepsy Outlook which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Mohammed Menabawey Revered in Hartlepool for setting up the fertility unit at the towns hospital which has received worldwide acclaim. Alby Pattison Local business entrepreneur and creator of Hartlepoolbased Hart Biologicals which exports lifesaving medical equipment around the world. 1st Hartlepool Boys Brigade Company Established in 1886, the 1st Hartlepool BoysBrigade was the first Boys Brigade Company to be formed in England. The last recipients in 2014 included Sir Ron Norman OBE the former chair of Teesside Development Corporation, Elizabeth ORourke who had served Hartlepool Blind Welfare Organisation for 52 years and Jim Rodgers who dedicated over 40 years to Hartlepool Sports Council. Previous recipients include former Hartlepool MP Lord Mandelson, Hartlepoolborn Sky Sports presenter Jeff Stelling, Pansies cancer charity fundraiser Isobel Wilson and Hartlepool Families First founder Wendy McLoughlin
