Join in the Big Latch On HARTLEPOOL breastfeeding mothers are encouraged to join thousands of women across the world at a global synchronised breastfeeding event this Friday. The Global Big Latch On, which will take place at registered locations across the world, will bring together local mothers and their children on Friday 4 August from 9.30am to 11.30am at Hindpool Childrens Centre, Hartlepool, to raise awareness of the benefits of breastfeeding. Coinciding with World Breastfeeding Week, which runs until Monday 7 August, visitors to the Big Latch On Hartlepool event can enjoy face painting, craft activities, visit information stands, join fun exercise sessions and much more. Melanie Calvert, Hartlepool Borough Councils Healthy Early Years Coordinator, said Thousands of mothers across the world will gather in their local communities for the event, which aims to give women an opportunity to receive support, share advice and discuss their own breastfeeding experiences. Hartlepool Council is delighted to support this initiative which aims to raise the profile of the benefits of breastfeeding. Breastfeeding mothers in Hartlepool seeking additional support can also attend two advice groups every Monday at Rossmere Childrens Centre, Rossmere Way First Latch 9.15am 10.15am. A Health Visitorled group offering advice and support to breastfeeding mums, suitable for children from birth to eight months. Latch On 10.00am 11.30am. A parentled group for breastfeeding mums offering informal support in a relaxed environment, suitable for breastfed children of any age.
