Hartlepool Coastguard Rescue Team where Paged by Humber CGOC to reports of a female

MARINA UPDATE Hartlepool Coastguard Rescue Team where Paged by Humber CGOC to reports of a female threatening to jump into Hartlepool marina. Cleveland police and fire service were already on scene. Once they arrived they kitted up in water rescue gear and waited while police officers talked to the female. Hartlepool RNLI sat off from the wall on standby just in case. Just as negotiations seemed to be working, the female decided to jump and she swam off in the marina. One person from RNLI crew and one member of the coastguard entered the water after a short swim around they then proceeded to detain the casualty and place her onto the waiting lifeboat. The casualty was then handed over to the custody of the police. S5C was on scene to assist in the operation with the police and fire chiefs. Seaham Coastguard were tasked but when arrived they got diverted to another incident.
