Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was robbed in Hartlepool. The incident happened at around 10.45pm on Tuesday 28th August as a 33yearold man and a 22yearold woman walked along Raby Road near to the Mill House Leisure Centre. As they walked behind the bus stop they were approached by a man and woman who made demands for cigarettes and cash. The male suspect claimed to be a police officer and produced a knife, attempting to stab the 33yearold man in the torso. When the victim put his hands up to defend himself, the knife caused lacerations to his hands. The 22yearold woman left the scene and flagged down passing police officers to assist. The victims injuries are not believed to be serious. A man aged 44 and a woman aged 51 have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and both have been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue. Detectives would like to appeal for anyone who may have private CCTV in and around the area to contact them as it may assist with their enquiries.
