Police in Hartlepool are reiterating the message from Hartlepool Coastguard Rescue Team about the dangers of swimming in the sea and Hartlepool Marina after a group of youngsters were spotted jumping off a pier into the water this week. A concerned member of the public reported the incident and members of the Hartlepool Coastguard Team located the youths on the pier and issued words of advice. Police wish to remind the public that unless taking part in an organised activity it is not permitted to swim in Hartlepool Marina. If you do want to cool down in this hot weather by taking a dip in the sea there are designated zones on the beach at Seaton Carew and the Headland which are monitored by Lifeguards.
