Popular wildflower planting programme Extended HARTLEPOOL Borough Councils acclaimed wildflower scheme has been extended again in 2017 to include seven perennial wildflower meadows. The new meadows covering around half a hectare have been sown in the Middle Warren area of the town and will bloom every summer. The perennial sites are in addition to 37 locations of annual wildflower meadows which are currently being planted across Hartlepool. Hartlepool Borough Council launched the wildflower planting scheme in 2014 along the A689 leading in and out of the town. Since then it has proved to be so successful that Council bosses have decided to extend it each summer to give more people the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful array of flowers.
