A WIDE range of free activities will be on offer at a fun fam

Promoting unity with community Event A WIDE range of free activities will be on offer at a fun family event in Hartlepool that aims to bring communities closer together The De Bruce Area Community Event is being supported by the De Bruce Ward councillors on Hartlepool Borough Council Councillors Stephen Thomas, Rob Cook and Brenda Harrison and will take place on Friday August 11 from 123pm at St Hilds Church of England School in King Oswy Drive. It is hoped to attract families from across the town and raise their awareness and understanding of the diverse nature of many local communities. Councillor Thomas said By encouraging families from across the town to attend we hope to bring people of different backgrounds together and promote mutual respect. This is the first time we have held this event but if it proves successful it could act as a model for similar events elsewhere in the town. I hope people come along, get involved in the free activities and have a thoroughly enjoyable day. The free activities and attractions include African drumming, kitemaking, a community art project, multisports, face painting, a balloon modelling workshop, circus skills, henna and cotton eyebrows, foods from around the world and a range of advice and information stalls. There will also be traditional Chinese and Sri Lankan dance performances A variety of services including Cleveland Fire Brigade, Thirteen Group, the Halo project, Hartlepool Borough Councils Health Trainers and Cleveland Police will be present to offer information and advice. Further information is available from Irene Cross, Community Cohesion Officer at Hartlepool Borough Council, on (01429) 523100.
