Reminder to Hartlepool vehicle owners after numerous breakins over the weekend Car and van owners in Hartlepool, particularly in the Seaton Carew area, are being reminded to lock their vehicles whenever theyre unattended after this weekend saw a large number of thefts from vehicles. The majority of the vehicles had been left unlocked overnight, making them vulnerable to opportunist thieves. The items stolen included cash and sat navs, designer sunglasses and even a number of pairs of football boots. The incidents happened across the town but mainly in the Seaton Carew area police had a number of reports from residents in Harvester Close, Gala Close, Kinterbury Close and several other areas, Police are urging everyone to remove any items of value when leaving their vehicle, always lock cars and vans and, if possible, park them in a garage overnight. Anyone who sees suspicious activity around vehicles should report it to Cleveland Police via the 101 number. Use 999 if a crime is in progress or in an emergency.
