Show your support for National Walking Month! FAMILIES across Hartlepool are being urged to get out and about and ensure a strong finish to National Walking Month. The initiative, which is being run throughout May by national walking charity Living Streets, is being supported by the Hartlepool Active Travel Hub which promotes sustainable forms of travel, including walking. Hub Coordinator Tony Davison, Hartlepool Councils Sustainable Travel Officer, hopes local people will take part in their own walks and then rate them via Living Streets website. After rating your walk Living Streets will send you an email. If local people then forward the emails to me they will be entered into a prize draw. Anyone rating their walk will also be in line for the national prize, a family city break, offered by Living Streets, explained Tony. A whole host of information on how to get walking and rating your walk is available at httpswww.livingstreets.org.ukwhatyoucandocampaignsnationalwalkingmonth2017 Tony can be contacted at tony.davison@hartlepool.gov.uk He added You dont need to have loads of spare time with a few tweaks to you normal routine can easily fit a walk into your day. For example, walk to or from work, organise a walking meeting or lunch al fresco instead of al desko! After work or on weekends enjoy some quality family time by arranging some fun and interesting walks. We have some great coastal and countryside routes in the Borough of Hartlepool so the opportunities are endless. The health benefits of walking are well documented and even if your walks are relatively short, say 20 minutes, you will soon notice a difference.
