Some fantastic youngsters from our town have just returned from The British Dodgeball British Championships on Saturday 22nd June in Liverpool Hartlepool Mavericks Dodgeball Club were very lucky to have 5 teams qualify from the Northern Qualifiers heat held in Manchester. They had Under 9s , Blitzens, U11s (defending champions) Bambis, u13s (last years runners up) Bucks and 2 U16 teams Hinds and Stags. They played against some of the best junior teams in Britain. After such a long day and uncomfortable heat the players performed exceptionally and we are bursting with pride! The U9s Blitzens merely missed out on point difference bringing us home silver but performed brilliantly on the day and were not out shone. The U11s Bambis became British champions for a consecutive year! This is astounding as this is only their second year of competitive dodgeball. No words can describe this young team, their talents and their drive. The U13s Bucks finally won the British championships after bringing home silver last year in extra time. This squad deserved this and worked incredibly hard to achieve their title. The U16s Stags performed with talent and drive, as always and after a promising start finished as bronze medal holders within their age category. The U16s Hinds came 4th in their age category and as a young team should be immensely proud to be within the best of the sport within this older age group. They only started competing in 2017!
