Summer sports fun at Rossmere Park THERE will be a wide range of sportrelated family fun at a community event in a Hartlepool park later this month. The Rossmere Sports Funday will take place at Rossmere Park from 124pm on Saturday July 29. It is being funded by Fens and Rossmere Ward Councillors Alan Clark, Jim Lindridge and Bob Buchan via their Ward Member Budgets, money granted to individual councillors by Hartlepool Council to spend in their local areas. All activities on the day are free and they will include athletics and football games provided by staff from the Belle Vue Community Sports and Youth Centre, a climbing wall, fun fair rides, bicycle and kart tryout sessions, pony rides and face painting. The Friends of Rossmere, a community group that champions the local area, will also be present and people will be able to learn more about the groups work and become members. Councillor Clark who is also Chair of Hartlepool Councils Childrens Services Committee, said This is all about giving young people the chance to enjoy themselves by taking part in some fun activities, whilst also bringing the wider community together. Councillor Lindridge said I am delighted to be supporting this event and, hopefully, the weather wont let us down. I think it is very important to promote community spirit by organising fun family events such as this. And Councillor Buchan added Anything that brings people and communities together in a positive way is to be welcomed and I am pleased to be able to support the event.
