By Hartlepool Alert

Today, Friday 26th July 2019, the Hartlepool Community Safety Team carried out three Closure Orders in the Burn Valley ward of Hartlepool following on from the multiagency day of action which took place on 4th June 2019. The orders were obtained at Teesside Magistrates Court by Hartlepool Borough Council acting on behalf of the multiagency Hartlepool Community Safety Team after sustained complaints of antisocial behaviour. There is a requirement that the addresses are boarded up and remain unused for a period of three months until October 26th 2019. It is a criminal offence for anyone to enter an address covered by a closure order without a court exemption and a breach is punishable by a fine of up to 5,000, imprisonment of up to 51 weeks or both. The orders granted today apply to numbers 4 and 30 Rugby Street and also 22 Charterhouse Street and are part of a focused effort by the Team to clamp down on drug related activity and ASB in the area. Sergeant Adrian Dack said The problems occurring at these particular properties also had a significant impact on the surrounding area. By securing these Closure Orders we want to send out a clear message that criminal activity such as this will neither be tolerated nor allowed to make the lives of others a misery. If you see anyone breaching a Closure Order please call Cleveland Police on 999 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
