Update from the National Museum of the Royal Navy Hartlepool regarding the preparations to bring RML

Update from the National Museum of the Royal Navy Hartlepool regarding the preparations to bring RML 497 to #Hartlepool. Preparations were well underway yesterday for RML 497 to be towed from the pontoon at Southampton to Williams Shipping further down the River Itchen. Veolia UK boats came alongside and pumped the bilges out in the engine room, which were full of fuel and oil. Buoyancy bags were then installed into the inside of 497 for the tow. This is a belt and braces approach for the safety of the vessel and other craft on the Itchen Keep an eye on social media this afternoon for an update on the hourlong tow, which is the first time RML 497 has moved in 3 years
