Weve had a question as part of our #saferhartlepool web chat asking what action is being taken to tackle opportunist thieves on estates. Chief Superintendent Alistair Simpson said Opportunistic thieves are exactly that and the best way to tackle this is to remove the opportunity. Simple crime prevention advice is effective in the vast majority of cases. Dont leave valuables on display in vehicles and make sure your vehicle is locked. With keyless car locking and remote locking it is easy to think that vehicles are locked when they arent so always check your vehicle.
